What a blue team actually does

🖥️ Your hands-on practice terminal

Every lesson in this course comes with a real Linux terminal built right into the page — nothing to install, nothing to set up, ready the instant you open a lab. You will not just read about commands; you will type real commands and run real tools on a live machine and learn by doing. It is a safe sandbox: experiment freely, break whatever you like, and reset to a clean machine any time. This is the fastest way to turn reading into real, job-ready skill.

Red team breaks in. Blue team keeps them out.

In security, people talk about two sides. The red team plays the attacker: they try to break in. The blue team is the defender: they try to spot the break-in and clean it up. This course is all about the blue side.

Think of it like being the night guard of a building. You cannot watch every door at once, so instead you read the visitor book afterwards: who came in, when, and which doors they touched. On a computer, that visitor book is called a log.

You are logged in to a real Linux machine running inside your browser, as the analyst account student. Let's confirm who you are and where you are:

whoami
id

In the terminal

student@vulntech:~$ whoami
student
student@vulntech:~$ id
uid=1000(student) gid=1000(student) groups=1000(student),27(sudo)

Tip: You do not need to remember commands. Every lesson shows you the exact command, and you can press Try it to run it yourself. Copy, run, read the output — that is the whole job.
