Set Up a Website Project
You're starting a new website. Create its folder structure in your home directory, exactly as shown:
website/ ├── css/ │ └── style.css ├── images/ ├── js/ │ └── app.js └── index.html
Then make a notes directory with an empty file in it.
How it works: the terminal below is a real Linux machine running in your browser. Click it and
type. Tasks tick themselves off as you complete them; questions are answered in the box under each task.
Press Reset any time for a fresh machine. Your password on this machine (for
sudo) is student.
Hints
Check your work with tree website.
Solution explanation
mkdir -p with braces creates all three subdirectories in one command. touch takes several paths at once. A name with a space must be quoted (or the space escaped with \), otherwise touch would create two files.
Show solution
mkdir -p website/{css,js,images}
touch website/index.html website/css/style.css website/js/app.js
mkdir notes
touch "notes/my ideas.txt"
