Tab, History and Clear
Time to practise the shortcuts that make the terminal fast. There's a folder in your home with a very long name. Don't type it all: let Tab do the work.
How it works: the terminal below is a real Linux machine running in your browser. Click it and
type. Tasks tick themselves off as you complete them; questions are answered in the box under each task.
Press Reset any time for a fresh machine. Your password on this machine (for
sudo) is student.
Hints
Press ↑ to bring back an earlier command instead of typing it again.
Solution explanation
Typing cd this and pressing Tab completes the whole folder name. ls shows the file the_secret_number_is_4096.txt. history lists your commands, and clear (or Ctrl+L) clears the screen.
