What to Learn Next

Congratulations!

You now know the core of Python: variables, types, input, decisions, loops, lists, dictionaries, functions, error handling, modules, files and classes. That's the same foundation every Python developer uses.

1. Practise, practise, practise

The fastest way to get better is to solve lots of small problems. Our Python Labs have more than 200 challenges, from easy to advanced, that run right in your browser.

2. Build small projects

  • A to-do list that saves to a file.
  • A quiz game with questions stored in a dictionary.
  • A password strength checker.
  • A program that renames or sorts files in a folder.

3. Pick a direction

  • Cyber security – write scripts that scan ports, check passwords or parse logs. See our cyber security tutorials.
  • Web development – learn Django or Flask to build websites.
  • Data and AI – learn pandas, NumPy and matplotlib to work with data.
  • Automation – let Python do your boring, repetitive computer tasks.

Remember: Every expert was once a beginner who kept going. Code a little every day, and don't be afraid of errors – they're how you learn.
