What survives a reload?
Someone has been working on router R1 but nobody knows what was saved. The router's current name is TEMP. Compare the running and startup configurations, work out what the router will look like after a restart, then reload it without saving to throw the unsaved work away.
How it works: this is VulnTech NetLab, a network simulator running in your browser. Click a device in the diagram to open its console and type commands, just like on real equipment (? shows help, Tab finishes a word). Click a cable to inspect it. Tasks tick themselves off as you complete them; questions are answered in the box under each task. Your work is kept if you reload; Reset starts the network over.
Hints
Compare show running-config with show startup-config.
When reload asks Save? [yes/no], answer no.
Solution explanation
The startup-config held hostname EDGE-01 and the uplink description; the changes made after that (the name TEMP and the test-port description) only existed in the running-config. Reloading without saving loaded the startup-config again, so the router came back as EDGE-01 and the test description was gone. This is also a handy way to undo a mess you haven't saved yet.
