Set up the office Wi-Fi
A new access point AP1 is powered from SW1 but has no configuration. Set it up:
- SSID
Staff, security WPA2-Personal, passphraseNetlab-2027! - 5 GHz band, channel 44
Then join LAP1 to it (use LAP1's Wi-Fi button) and check it gets an address from R1's DHCP pool and can reach the gateway 192.168.30.1.
How it works: this is VulnTech NetLab, a network simulator running in your browser. Click a device in the diagram to open its console and type commands, just like on real equipment (? shows help, Tab finishes a word). Click a cable to inspect it. Tasks tick themselves off as you complete them; questions are answered in the box under each task. Your work is kept if you reload; Reset starts the network over.
Solution explanation
An AP needs an SSID before it broadcasts anything. WPA2-Personal uses one passphrase for everyone and AES-CCMP encryption. Once LAP1 associates, its Wi-Fi card is "connected" like a plugged-in cable, and it asks for a DHCP lease, which R1 hands out across the AP and SW1.
