Hand Over the Files
Files in /srv/ship need new owners now that the crew has its jobs. Changing owners needs sudo; your password is student.
How it works: the terminal below is a real Linux machine running in your browser. Click it and
type. Tasks tick themselves off as you complete them; questions are answered in the box under each task.
Press Reset any time for a fresh machine. Your password on this machine (for
sudo) is student.
Hints
ls -lR /srv/ship shows the owner and group of everything.
Solution explanation
Only root may give files away, so each command starts with sudo. chown -R also changes everything inside charts, including the old subfolder. chgrp changes only the group. /srv/ship/galley belongs to root, so even adding a permission there needs sudo chmod.
Show solution
sudo chown cook /srv/ship/menu.txt
sudo chown -R navigator:navigator /srv/ship/charts
sudo chgrp galley /srv/ship/galley
sudo chmod g+w /srv/ship/galley
ls -l /srv/ship
